The Tide Rose High – by Giraffe’s Song

This contribution to the well is a poem posted by a lovely lady who has a daughter with Autism and Psychosis.  Her daughter and her battle is the inspiration for this beautiful poem…

The Tide Rose High – 8/20/2013

You sailed out on a crimson wave through rough waters straight into my arms.
I looked deep into your ocean blue eyes and cried, overpowered with your beauty.

I held you tight, dripping saltwater tears onto your sand dollar skin,
heart heavy with promises to keep you safe from harm.

Then the tide rose high, higher than I could ever imagine, but I never let go.
I wrapped my arms around you like a rope, anchoring you to the shore.

I will tether you to the mooring, ride through the offing, drift with you to the distant sea,
always trying to pilot you gently back to calm waters.
