Heaven – by Jane Dougherty (Competition Entry)

Heaven - by Jane Dougherty (Competition Entry)

If heaven is a place
its mirror image shines
in the candid gaze of children
in the deep eyes of beasts.
Sad for us so few will ever look
and find the secret blazoned there
that says live let live and help to live
and nothing more
because that is love
and love is all.
But a fine peaceful place it must be
beneath those calm accepting skies
full of a wild silence
and the music of childish voices.
